2002 - Open Gardens
Home Introduction Events How to Join Contacts & Links

On Saturday 6th July 2002, Anne & Arthur Nelson's beautiful garden at Bay Tree Cottage, Nash Street, Chiddingly, was opened to the public  It was a pity that more people did not attend, since the inclement weather of previous days was brushed aside, revealing the fine results of much hard work. Teas were served, and plants were sold - a typical English summer pastime.

Peter Jameson's garden at Colemans, Warren Lane, Cross-in-Hand, was opened on Saturday 27th July 2002, again in aid of HCS funds, and again with teas and a selection of plants for sale that bettered many a local "garden centre". With glorious weather and (thankfully) better attendance (the guilt would have been just too much for any Member missing both open gardens!), and a little light singing from the Society's breakaway (but not too far) group, "Mocktet", another pleasant day purred gently down the canal of life...

Just to prove it was all true, here's the pictorial evidence (thanks to Duffy Coleman). Note how Mocktet is being ably and sternly led... by a statue...
